25th - 27th July 2025
This is a small uninhabited island beside Inishbofin. It had a small fishing and farming community but the last 23 islanders left in 1960. There are Bronze Age sites there that show the island had been inhabited for thousands of years.
Bad weather used to stop people coming and going for months at an end so there would be food rationing and a shortage of essential supplies. This coupled with emigration led to the evacuation of the island.
For this weekend we will be staying on Inishbofin in Murrays Doonmore Hotel. We will be brought to Inishark by boat on the Saturday.
! Please note that if the weather doesn`t suit a crossing to Inishark we will do a walk on Inishbofin.
We will be staying in the Doonmore hotel. We will meet in Cleggan at 6pm on the Friday evening.
