The island is approx 15 km off the coast of Co Mayo and is home to 58 inhabitants. It has evidence of bronze age sites and a Napoleonic era watchtower that was part of a network of towers from Mayo to Waterford.
On our walks we will talk about the islands bronze age past, its pirate coves and stunning cliffs. Our hosts are more than happy to talk about life on the island with a small community and the plans for helping it to survive in the future.
Our weekend will include a warm welcome at the excellent B&B`s, good food in the Cahir View restaurant, amazing views on the walks and a bit of time to do your own thing as well.
Inisturk is one of the true gems sitting offshore, on our Wild Atlantic Way, waiting for you to visit. Join us here some weekend, we promise you will not be disappointed.
The group will stay in two B&B`s and we will have dinner in Caher View Restaurant at the local pub. There will be a set menu with ample choices for starters, mains and desserts.
The boat leaves Roonagh pier at 6.30 pm on the Friday and leaves Inishturk at approx 12 noon on the Sunday.
We will meet at Roonagh Pier at 6 pm on the Friday evening.

Hiking boots, rain gear, fleece and a small rucksack for a lunch, camera, sunscreen etc are needed for the weekend. Lunch can be bought on the islands but some people bring their own lunch or snacks.

- Return boat to Roonagh pier outside Louisburgh Co Mayo
- Guided walk around the island on the Saturday that is approx 10 km and will take in the stunning cliffs on the western side of the island.. We will do a short walk on Sunday morning after breakfast that will bring us past the famous Inishturk GAA pitch and to Portdoon. The walks will be on trail , country road and over hills where there is no trail.
